Arielle Freedberg, Psy.D. , Staff Psychologist, graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College and earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of California, Santa Barbara's Counseling Services, and her post-doctoral fellowship in college mental health at Sarah Lawrence College Health Services.

Dr. Freedberg has received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) under the direction of Lata McGinn, Ph.D., and has completed advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She is also trained in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and other empirically supported brief therapy models. She has clinical experience in the treatment of mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, and the exploration of sexual identity and relationship issues. Her areas of research interest include resilience, posttraumatic growth, and identity conflict and resolution.

Samantha Monk, PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellow, earned her doctorate in combined clinical and school psychology at Hofstra University after receiving a masters degree in psychology from New York University.  She completed her pre-doctoral fellowship at the VA Hudson Valley HCS where she received intensive training in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. Dr. Monk previously served as an extern at the American Institute of Cognitive Therapy under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Napolitano and Dr. Annalise Caron, providing cognitive behavioral therapy to a diverse range of clients and clinical presentations. As a member of the Institute’s Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program, she served as an individual therapist, consultation team member and skills group co-leader. During her graduate training, Dr. Monk served as a clinician in Hofstra University’s CBT Treatment Program for Anxiety & Depression, as well as in the behavior therapy clinic at Hofstra’s Psychological Evaluation, Research and Counseling Clinic and in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Clinic. Additionally, she completed a pre-doctoral internship in school psychology at Saddle Rock Elementary School in Great Neck, NY. Dr. Monk’s doctoral research primarily focused on cognitive behavioral interventions for anxiety disorders.

Dr. Monk provides individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and works with adults, children and adolescents. In addition, she co-leads DBT skills training groups. As a trained CBT, DBT, and ACT therapist, Dr. Monk integrates mindfulness and acceptance with traditional cognitive behavioral therapy.  Her clinical practice focuses on individual therapy for a wide range of problems including depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias, social phobia and borderline personality disorder, as well as post traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse.

Andrea Weiner, M.A., Psychology Extern, received her B.A. in psychology at Pennsylvania State University, followed by a M.A. in general psychology from New York University. Andrea has also achieved her M.A. in clinical psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree. At Ferkauf, she has completed intensive coursework in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) while practicing under supervision in the Cognitive Behavioral Treatment Program for Anxiety and Depression at the Parnes Clinic. Andrea has also received training in conducting assessments, individual, and group psychotherapy in placements including Bridge Back to Life Center (a chemical dependency outpatient program), North General Hospital, NYU Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and New York-Presbyterian, Westchester Division, where she co-leads CBT-based groups on a female inpatient unit. She has had experience treating Depression, Bipolar Disorder, psychotic disorders, addictions, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, and phobias. Andrea's clinical and research interests involve trauma and she is currently writing her dissertation titled "The Role of Trauma in the Women's Inpatient Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Project."

Rachel Hershenberg, M.A., Psychology Extern, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University with a B.A. in psychology. She earned her M.A at Stony Brook University, where she is currently a fourth-year clinical psychology Ph.D. candidate.  Rachel completed intensive clinical coursework and practicum using cognitive behavioral approaches in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Additionally, within a CBT framework, Rachel is also trained to integrate emotion-focused, interpersonal, and accepted-based approaches into assessment and treatment planning.  She is a staff therapist at the Krasner Psychological Center and the Anxiety Disorder Clinic, which serve members of the greater Stony Brook community varying in ages, presenting problems, and level of severity. Rachel also works under Joanne Davila, Ph.D. in the Relationship Development Center at Stony Brook University as a Clinical Interviewer and Project Coordinator. Their research examines the development and course of interpersonal functioning and psychopathology among adolescents.  Recent lab-based projects have explored the relationship between depressive symptoms and engagement in romantic and sexual activities among early adolescent girls, and Rachel’s Master’s thesis examined how individual differences in interpersonal style might moderate that association. Rachel currently serves as the student member of APA Division 12’s Committee on Science and Practice, working toward the increased use of the clinic as a source of data collection to better inform evidence-based practice and to help bridge the gap between researchers and clinicians.

Edwin Huh, M.A., Psychology Extern, graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering.  He earned his M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, where he is currently working toward his doctoral degree. At Ferkauf, Edwin has completed intensive coursework and practicum in cognitive behavioral approaches to the treatment of anxiety and depression. Edwin received clinical training at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, Jacobi Hospital, Parnes Clinic, and the Einstein Aging Study at Yeshiva University.  Edwin has worked with diverse populations characterized by a wide range of ages, psychological disorders, ethnicities, and socioeconomic incomes.  He is trained in psychological evaluation, neuropsychological assessment, and group therapy for chronic pain. Edwin has experience in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.  He is currently researching the relationship among childhood abuse, the development of adult empathy, and adult functioning within romantic relationships.

Nicole Blank, M.A., Psychology Extern, received her B.A. in psychology with honors from The George Washington University and her M.A. in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University School of Psychological Studies, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree.  Nicole has received training in conducting assessments, and individual and group psychotherapy of both inpatient and outpatient adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients at the University ofMiami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Neurorehabilitation Unit, BarryUniversity Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, and Yeshiva University Counseling Center.  Nicole has facilitated peer support groups for adolescents at the Children's Bereavement Center in Miami, Florida.  Nicole has clinical experience in the treatment of mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, as well as grief, trauma, sexual identity and relationship issues.  Her clinical and research interests include trauma, suicide prevention, and grief. 

Letisha Lall, Clinical Intake Coordinator, joins CBT/DBT Associates from the Conference Board, where she supported their core mission of enlightening senior executives with regards to critical management and economic challenges. Letisha received her B.A. in Sociology from Fordham University. She has always had a demonstrated interest in helping others. While at Fordham, she worked at the University's Counseling and Psychological Services Center. As an undergraduate, she examined the effect of race on teen pregnancy in the United States.

Le Guo, Research Assistant, is currently pursuing her B.A. in psychology at New York University. She is particularly interested in exploring the cognitive and biological factors of psychological disorders. During this past spring term, she served as a research assistant in a study that examined the effects of social support on stress levels in people. Le enjoys helping others and she has experience assisting the elderly and children. In her spare time, she loves to read novels and watch foreign films.
